DMA’s Approach to Design

DMA’s design philosophy is to bring our knowledge to a project and help a customer understand all the options they have in the design process to achieve their desired outcomes of their building.

We strive to work in a collaborative environment with the design and construction team. We have developed a process that helps a customer navigate the maze of design and end at a place that they feel comfortable with their decisions. We find that when a customer has all the information, they typically choose a building that is highly sustainable and effective in meeting their requirements. Our process is outlined below:

Potential Customer Intake Form

Determine what is important to the customer as it relates to HVAC System

Interview with potential customer

We are a fit for both parties, agree to move forward

Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR)

A “living” document that is a summary of what we received from the customer intake form and our interview, this document is comprehensive of what the building needs to do to meet all requirements

Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)

Modeling of Envelope and Mechanical Systems
Evaluate cost benefit based upon CAPEX, OPEX including energy consumption, maintenance costs, and replacement costs; weighted factors as determined important to the OPR

Basis of Design

A summary of what we are going to design
